EAST

Waterville, N.H., Women's Wednesdays have lots of perks. Purchase a full-price lift ticket and get benefits such as free child care for kids ages six months to four years (max two kids per ticket), 50 percent off kids camps, 50 percent off a group lesson, and free "From the Summit" clinics for advanced skiers and riders. Bulk buying lets tour operators offer customized packages at cheaper rates than you might find yourself. Sugarloaf, Maine, offers friendly pricing to families during the Family Fling weeks. Packages include free lift tickets to children 12-and-under, when a three-night midweek package is booked. Offer is available Feb. 3-7 and March 24-28.

Killington, Vt., has a Family Ski Week, which lets a family of four with two children (ages 12-and-under) spend five nights in a one-bedroom condo, with five days' lifts, starting at $693. Valid opening day though Dec. 20 (excluding Thanksgiving) and April 7 through closing day. Midwinter rate is $934 and excludes holidays. Package does not include tax and gratuity. Hunter Mountain, N.Y., has a great deal for girls and women (ages seven and older). On Ladies Day Wednesday (every Wednesday except Dec. 26) an all-area lift ticket, gear rentals, group lesson, lunch and snowtubing cost a total of $39.

North Conway, N.H., has huge portions for small prices is what's on the menu at the Moat Mountain Smoke House and Brewing Company. Collect at least four people and order the Family Style BBQ Platter, with BBQ ribs, brisket and pork, chicken, and lots of sides. Cost is $12.95 per person; $5.95 for those under age 12. WEST

Keystone, Colo.'s early-season Learn to Ski and Ride Like A Pro weekend camps will get you geared for the season. The camps, Dec. 6-9 and Jan. 3-6 include three full days of ski or snowboard lessons, four nights' accommodations at the Keystone Lodge, equipment rentals, breakfast, a reception, an après-ski party and more. Aspen, Colo.¿cheap it's not, but a deal it is! Guests arriving at The St. Regis before Dec. 21, and staying through Dec. 24 receive Christmas night for free. Nightly rates begin at $825 per room, including daily breakfast for two. The rate is available for deluxe and superior rooms only and a five-night minimum stay is required. Aspen Colo., visitors who don't intend to ski Ajax or Snowmass can get up to 55 percent off the standard lift and lodging rates with the new "Get in To Aspen" packages, which include airfare and lodging and a lift ticket valid at Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk. A sample package with three nights' lodging, two days lift and roundtrip airfare from Chicago or Los Angeles starts at $570, per person.

Land-only packages are available. For example, at the Limelite packages go from $60-$97 per person, per night, and at the Hotel Lenado from $73-$160 per person, per night. Snowbird, Utah, lets kids 12-and-under ride the lifts free with a paying adult. Limit is two kids per adult, and there's a $10 upgrade for tram tickets.

Steamboat, Colo., is all about luxury during the early-season. Enjoy three nights in a guest room in the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel, and four days' lift tickets. Salt Lake City, Utah can be cheap if you know where to stay.
