Tahoe City, CA Oct 27, 2004 - North Lake Tahoe's Alpine Meadows Ski Resort is STOKED to announce that opening day for skiing and snowboarding is Saturday, October 30. Roundhouse high-speed quad and Kangaroo double chair will operate from 8:59am to 4pm, intermediate through advanced terrain, wind and weather permitting. The resort will operate weekends only (Saturday and Sunday) weather and conditions permitting.
The October 30 opening day is Alpine's earliest opening day in history.Due to early snow storms, the mountain is unusually well-covered, andwill offer both groomed trails and some off-piste terrain. "This is the most snow the region has received in October since 1945," said GaryMurphy, Alpine Meadows Avalanche Forecaster. Alpine Meadows hasreceived a total of 48 inches of snow at its base lodge so far thismonth.
Cool overnight and daytime temperatures have allowed Alpine Meadows tosupplement the natural pack with machine-made snow on designated trails.
Lift ticket rates will be $39 for adults, $15 for kids 7-12, $39 forages 65-69, and $15 for guests 70 and over. All Alpine Meadows seasonpasses will be valid this weekend, including full, midweek,midweek-plus-Sunday passes.
Please excuse our construction zone. The Alpine Meadows base lodge isstill undergoing remodel construction work; therefore, the maincafeteria and seating area will not be open this weekend. The GordonBiersch Barbeque Restaurant, located on the base lodge's Sundeck, willbe open offering traditional barbeque fare with outdoor seating. Thefirst floor of the base lodge will offer restroom facilities.Ski/snowboard rentals and lessons and Kids' Camp will not be available.Alpine Meadows still has a target date of November 19 for full basefacility operations.
