St. Anton, Austria, Jan. 29, 2001--U.S. television viewers will be able to choose from a record 20+ hours of national network broadcastcoverage of the World Alpine Ski Championships Jan. 29-Feb. 11 in St. Anton, Austria. ESPN and NBC will combined to providesame-day coverage on virtually every event.

NBC Sports, the network of the Olympics, will provide extensive coverage on both weekends with four programs. ESPN, a partnerwith the U.S. Ski Team for over a decade, will provide nearly daily coverage of mid-week events.

NBC will feature Tim Ryan, former Canadian downhiller Todd Brooker, and former U.S. Ski Team racers Hilary Lindh and Steve Porino.ESPN's coverage will feature veteran Bob Beattie, Rob Stone, Brooker and Porino.

ESPN will kickoff the Championships with same-day coverage of the men's and women's super G's Jan. 29-30, plus hour-and-a-halfcoverage of the women's combined on Feb. 2, where the U.S. has a strong opportunity with Caroline Lalive (Steamboat Springs, CO).

NBC will anchor its opening weekend coverage with the men's downhill on Feb. 3 and women's downhill Feb. 4.

ESPN will continue its second week coverage with the men's combined on Feb. 5 and the men's and women's giant slaloms on Feb. 8-9with strong U.S. opportunities from Sarah Schleper (Vail, CO), Erik Schlopy (Park City, UT) and Bode Miller (Franconia, NH).

NBC will wrapup the Championships with same-day coverage of the men's slalom on Feb. 10 and taped coverage of the women'sslalom with U.S. stars Schleper and Kristina Koznick (Burnsville, MN) and a two-hour wrapup show on Feb. 11.
