Park City, UT, May 14, 2001--U.S. Alpine Ski Team athlete Caroline Lalive (Steamboat Springs, CO) will miss the on-snow portion of a training camp atMammoth Mountain, Calif. after undergoing surgery for a broken wrist.

Lalive, who will be entering her sixth season with the U.S. Team, fractured a bone in her left wrist May 5 after crashing on her mountain bike in Utah'sMoab region. She underwent surgery May 9 with U.S. Ski Team doctor Eric Verploeg in Steamboat Springs.

Despite the injury, Lalive, 21, has been able to continue her dryland training program without interruption. However, she will be forced to miss theon-snow portion of a Team training camp currently underway at Mammoth Mountain. It is expected Lalive will return to on-snow camps this summer.

Lalive, a '98 Olympian and the '00 U.S. champion in slalom and combined, recorded four top-10 finishes on the '01 World Cup circuit. A four-event skier,she posted a season-best second in combined at Haus, Austria in January.
