Park City, UT Oct. 14--Write on! Jonny Moseley is teaming up with Sprint, The American Skiing Company, and five other US Ski Team members to sponsor an essay contest for eighth graders around the country. Competitors will write an essay of 200 words or less about what sportsmanship means to them in all aspects of life, including athletics, academics, other activities and in relationships with family and friends.
The top 15 eighth graders will be chosen as Gold Medal winners. Sprint will donate $1,000 to each gold medallist's school and the US Ski Team will make them honorary team members. Three of these 15 students will become national gold medallists and earn a trip to Heavenly Ski Resort to attend the Sprint US Freestyle Grand Nationals and spend time with members of the US Ski Team. The other 12 winners will earn a trip to the American Skiing Company resort nearest to their hometown for a weekend ski getaway.
Other US Ski Team members supporting the competition include Brian Currutt, Evan Dybrig, Kristina Koznick, Joe Pack, and Michelle Roark.
The competition is open to all eighth graders and runs until November 15. The winners will be notified by December 15.
