How is the length of a cambered ski measured?
How is the length of a cambered ski measured?
I can think of two ways to measure ski length:
A. stand the ski up and measure straight down to the ground.
B. measure along the top or bottom surface of the ski (adds length unless ski is flat from tip to tail).
When ski manufacturers give the length of a ski, which method are they using?
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure its the second method, so if you're buying a ski with a rockered camber, that you need to go bigger.

K2 measures using method A.
To the best of my knowledge, every other ski company -- including K2-related companies, like Line and Volkl -- uses method B.

As far as I know, all brands measure from tip to tail- yet, the effective length (skiable surface) of a cambered ski is shorter. Therefore, buy a longer ski than you normally would.
