Bill, Mitch and J.T. Craft have a fitting last name. They are gifted blacksmiths, innovative furniture designers and owners of Iron Mountain Forge, located in Sheridan, Wyo. The brothers have been crafting furniture for 21 years, and strive to create pieces that are simple yet unique.
When not forging iron, the Crafts can be found skiing at nearby Antelope Butte ski area or on the cross-country trails throughout the Big Horn Mountains. (The brothers each got their first taste of skiing in their parents' backpacks on those same trails.)
Staying true to their Wyoming roots, Iron Mountain Forge furniture collections maintain a common thread: They are distinctly Western. Materials such as flagstone, farrier's bar stock and twisted wrought iron give their creations a rustic look, while maintaining a refined and classy feel.
Much of the furniture features hand-forged iron ropes and wildwood branches, such as those used for the legs of the flagstone-topped breakfast table (above). The iron-gate bed looks like an antique, the headboard made with a hand-hammered iron gate hanging between contoured gateposts. The brothers make everything from coffee tables and dressing benches to beds and lamps. And if they don't have what you're looking for, just ask: They'll make just about any piece you might want to commission.
