Ligety wins GS

Despite skiing off the GS course over the weekend in Beaver Creek, Ligety pulled it together the second time around to earn first place on Tuesday. His win catapulted him into second in the overall Audi FIS Alpine World Cup standings.

His first run put him in fourth place with a .14 deficit. In his second run, he won by .72 for the 10th victory of his career and his second in Beaver Creek.

"It's really hard to come from behind with that kind of pressure and win, especially in snow like this. I don't think I could have done much more than I did on my second run. It was pushing the line harder than I have all season."

Other US Ski Teamers fared well, too— Tim Jitloff was 20th, Tommy Ford was 15th, and Bode Miller was 29th.Said Ford, "I pushed harder today and I'm skiing well. I've got to work on my physical strength a bit, but things are feeling really good. This was a good result for me and a good result for Tim, but Ted is really on a level of his own in GS. He's proven to be the best in the world for the last two or three years and that's not changing anytime soon."

In 13 World Cup races this season, the U.S. Ski Team has combined for 10 podium finishes, including seven victories.
