New Five-Resort $349 Pass

Come Hither: Alta, Aspen, Jackson and Squaw/Alpine team up.

The new motto for resorts this season just might be All for One, One for All, as four of the biggest names in the sport have banded together to offer a unique, unified ski pass. The new Mountain Collective pass, working with Liftopia, offers eight days of skiing at Alta, Aspen/Snowmass, Jackson Hole, and Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows for $349.

Included are two days of skiing at each of the four resorts; eight days total. After you've skied two days at a resort, you can purchase unlimited lift tickets at 50 percent off the window price. No blackout dates. No restrictions. No questions asked.

This makes us wonder, why hasn’t anyone does this before? Maybe this is an epic signal of improved cooperation between former rivals, and the opening salvo in a new battlefront as independent resorts work together to take on Vail Resorts multi-resort pass, which now includes eight resorts in Colorado and the Lake Tahoe area.

“We had to do a lot of research before moving the gears on this,” says Christian Knapp, Aspen VP of marketing. “We studied the habits of resort visitors to see what the pass should include and who would be interested in buying it.”

The Mountain Collective was created for skiers who plan to ski 6 to 12 days per season at different resorts. “It makes the purchase of multi-day lift tickets attainable,” Knapp says.

When the Mountain Collective site launched yesterday, it saw visitors from 77 counties. “It’s creating a huge ripple in the industry,” says Ron Schneidermann, co-founder of Liftopia who created the infrastructure needed to sell the pass online. “It’s great to see these like-minded, progressive ski areas that normally compete with each other collaborate to offer people more options.”
