ASPEN/SNOWMASS, Colo. March 16, 2004 - This exciting and outrageous new event will bridge the gap between what you know and what you think you know about today's core winter sports culture.

The NEPSA Awards feature seven multi media pieces presented by young snowboarders and skiers competing for a $3,000 cash purse, winner take all. Each athlete chose their own team of photographers and videographers and have had since January to put together a lifestyle piece. There will be pieces by Chris Klug, Chad Otterstrom, Mitch Stout, Peter Olenick, Chris Anthony, and Kiffor Berg as well as a piece by Josh Malay, who died recently in a tragic accident.

"This is a new and exciting event and the teams have been out there working hard to capture unique perspectives, said Nancy Scheinkman, event director. "Josh's piece will be especially moving and we are honored to be able to present this work.

These talented athletes independently created fresh multimedia presentations using music, video and photography to expose the ever-changing lifestyle and culture of the winter sports movement. The NEPSA awards will be free and open to the public. Doors open at 7:30 and the show starts at 8 p.m. Please contact the Wheeler Box Office at 970-920-5770. Ticket holders who arrive after 7:45 p.m. are not guaranteed entry to the event.

In addition to the NEPSA Awards, works from the DISCulpture Challenge will be on display in the lobby. The DISCulpture Challenge features pieces from some of the valley's most creative artists. All pieces are made entirely from CDs and artists are competing for $1,500 in prize money.

The NEPSA Awards are sponsored by Bud Light, Sprint, Town of Snowmass Village, Gevalia, Balance Bar, Freeskier Magazine, RLX and Evian.

Please contact 970-925-2969 for more information.
