Killington Reopens and Others Soon to Follow

Killington, VT, Nov. 8--Killington Ski Area fired up its lifts again Saturday, reopening after a temporary closing. Killington was the first resort to open in New England, on Oct. 25, but was forced to close again due to mild temperatures that stalled snowmaking efforts

The Canyon Quad and the Glade triple serve the advanced Rime and East Glade trails for top-to-mid-mountain skiing with a 1-to 24-inch base. Snowmaking continues on Ram's Head and Header for top-to-bottom skiing within the next two weeks.

Also in Vermont, Mount Snow Resort's snow guns have been firing around the clock since Saturday. Last night, Mother Nature helped snow teams out with a dusting of snow spread over the Mount Snow Valley. No opening date is set, but it shouldn't be too much longer.

In New Hampshire, Attitash Bear Peak also got a dusting of snow. This prompted them to start up the snow guns yesterday on Upper Saco, Moat, and Upper Highway.

"We added man-made flakes to the natural snow that had already been falling throughout the morning," said Russ VanDeursen, vice president of mountain operations.

Attitash plans to open Moat, served by the Flying Yankee quad, on Sat. Nov. 13.
