SNOW COUNTRY, NEW ENGLAND (March 11, 2003 News Release) - Skiers and riders can celebrate the spring ski and snowboard season with $1 lift tickets this Friday, March 14. Resorts believe it's time for guests to enjoy a well-deserved vacation from the cold weather to enjoy the deep snowy base depths at Killington, Sunday River, Sugarloaf/USA, Mount Snow, and Attitash Bear Peak.

"We hope everyone can take a 'play day' on Friday and enjoy this incredible snow and spring skiing," said Jim Lacey, senior vice president sales and marketing, American Skiing Company. "It's as easy as walking up to the ticket window and handing over a single dollar bill - in what must be considered the best deal of the winter! It's a great time to enjoy the mountains with friends and families, relax on our base lodge decks with après-ski parties, find your 'goggle tan,' and participate in our special events."

The days in March become sunnier and warmer and snow base depths continue to deepen with natural snowfall and industry-leading snowmaking efforts. American Skiing Company resorts are celebrating spring by creating special events and package deals so skiers and riders can enjoy the best part of the season.

Currently, base depths are averaging from 10 to 17 feet of natural snowfall. Maine's Sugarloaf/USA and Sunday River and New Hampshire's Attitash Bear Peak have received more than a foot of natural snow in March. Additionally, resorts continue to make snow on signature trails to prepare for events and special activities. Killington has been making snow this season on its 'glacier,' Superstar, a trail that keeps skiers and riders on the snow until Memorial Day and oftentimes into June.

"Some of our resorts average up to seven feet of natural snowfall after March 1, and it will be months before the snow melts off the golf courses," said Lacey. "Folks can finally take their equipment out of cold storage because March, April, May-and even June at Killington - offer some of the best and warmest skiing and riding of the season."

Also on sale at Attitash Bear Peak, Sunday River, Sugarloaf/USA, Killington, and Mount Snow is the $199 Pass, valid any day of the week from now until the last eastern American Skiing Company resort closes for the season. The pass is also available for purchase online at www.peaks.com or each resort's individual website.

The best part of the $199 Pass is that on top of incredible skiing and riding, the resorts have scheduled a whole host of exciting events through May. From Reggae Daze to the Red Parka Pub Regatta, Parrothead Festival, Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge, and Rage Weekend - skiers and riders will have a great time hopping from one resort to the other.
