Wild Sage

Wild Sage
Wild Sage
Intimate is the name of the game at this award-winning restaurant.

The recipient of a number of national awards, Wild Sage is a spot where intimate is the name of the game. The rustic river rock fireplace sets an elegant mood for the whole meal while the open kitchen makes you feel like you are in the personal home of a star chef. The restaurant only has six or seven tables, so make a reservation. It’s likely you will wait for your table, even with a reservation since everything moves slowly at Wild Sage. This meal is meant to be enjoyed at a slow pace, so start with a bottle of wine from Wild Sage’s fantastic wine list.

Only in Wyoming can you get a sushi roll called the Cowboy that has tempura asparagus and beef, topped with a miso honey glaze and wasabi sesame seeds. Welcome to Nikai Sushi, located right off the town square, which boasts the largest selection of chilled sake in the state of Wyoming. Grab a seat at the sushi bar with the locals and talk about all powder you consumed that day.

Cowboy boots and Manolos are equally at home

Split lodgepole pine walls, hickory-plank floors and a moss rock hearth provide the atmosphere at this mountain-chic spot, where cowboy boots and Manolos are equally at home beneath the tables. Executive chef Jeff Drew’s wood-fired “Wyomato” pizzas, buffalo pot roast, apple cider–glazed pork shanks and pumpkin ravioli are fitting fare. snakerivergrill.com

Dining Review: Rendezvous Bistro

Roger Freedman might have honed his craft at sophisticated L.A. restaurants like 72 Market and Maple Drive, but he's no stranger to the wilder West. For nearly eight years, he practically ruled Jackson's restaurant scene as executive chef at the Snake River Grill.Jackson, Wyo.
