Vermont resort is installing a wind turbine
Vermont's Bolton Valley is going with wind. The resort announced yesterday that a new wind turbine will be installed atop its hills and should be producing energy by late fall. The local paper reports that the turbine, "a Northwind 100 manufactured by Northern Power Systems of Barre, with 33-foot blades, will generate 350,000 kilowatt hours of power a year, the equivalent of electricity used by about 45 Vermont households. It is expected to save the resort about $35,000 a year in power costs." Bolton becomes the second New England ski resort to install a turbine; Massachusetts neighbor Jiminy Peak installed its turbine in 2007.
