Colorado's First Snow of the Season
[ September 21, 2009 - 4:32pm ]
The El Niño year has begun
Looks like El Niño is on his way. It's only the middle of September -- and the last day of summer -- but the first snow of the season is already hitting Colorado ski country. While last week was shorts weather here at the Ski offices, this morning we woke up to 40-degree temps and a heap of dark clouds over the mountains. Via Twitter, Telluride, Loveland, Steamboat, Vail, Winter Park and Summit County all reported snow; the forecast was calling for at least four inches at Vail before the day is done. In other news, Loveland Ski Area turned on its snow guns today, and is planning for a mid-October opening.
Get ready.
