Golf in the Rockies
Don't hang up your clubs just yet; fall is prime golfing season.

In the doldrums between family-vacation season and ski season, there's still plenty of reason to get outside. If you're a golfer, the times couldn't be better: The sun still shines late into the day, and it's warm enough to hang out in shorts. And if you're a skier, ski-resort golf courses offer a lovely way to ease into the season. The New York Times offers its paean to the resort courses of New England: "Ski resorts across the nation have everything you would want: ample space and variable terrain for imaginative golf course designs, beautiful views, a natural habitat of trees and wetlands, pleasant weather, small off-season crowds and a waiting infrastructure of hotels, condos, restaurants and off-course activities."
