Montana's Moonlight Basin giving free passes to improving kids

When some of us SKI Magazine folks were kids, we weren't exactly model students. If there was a chance to play hooky and hit the ski hill, you can bet we took it. (Not that we're recommending that as a career-advancement strategy for you aspiring ski journalists out there -- we're just saying.) So when we hear about programs like the following, we become convinced that we were born too soon. Moonlight Basin, up in the wilds of Montana, has started up the M-BAR-T program for school-age kids. M-BAR-T stands for Moonlight Basin Aspirations Reward Team. Kids living in counties surrounding Moonlight -- Beaverhead, Gallatin, Madison, Park or Sweet Grass counties -- who bump their grade point averages up 0.2 points between grading periods or post a 3.0 GPA during one semester get a free season pass to Moonlight. Well, total cost is $15 in administrative fees, but hey -- $15 for a season pass? Can we go back to school now? Promise we'll be good this time!
