Honoring a Skiing Sage

Stu Campbell, SKI’s longtime Instruction Director and one of the preeminent ski teachers of his era, left an indelible mark on American skiing and just might have influenced the sport as much as any individual in the past 50 years. In recognition of his contributions and in honor of the man himself, the International Skiing History Association has posthumously awarded Campbell the 2009 Skiing History Pioneer Award. To those who knew him directly and those he inspired indirectly—through his many contributions as an innovative writer, author and instructor—Stu was a steadfast champion of anyone who ventured out onto the snow.
