First ski death of the season is Colorado Springs teen
Bad news from Breckenridge: The first skiing death of the season happened on its slopes this past weekend. On Saturday morning, Haley Rose Gans, a 14-year-old girl from Colorado Springs, crashed into a tree. Gans was airlifted to an ambulance and rushed to nearby Breckenridge Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. According to witnesses, Gans had been skiing fast down Spruce, an intermediate trail. She was wearing a helmet, but it appears that "blunt force trauma" to her chest caused her death.
The staff of SKI Magazine offers its sincere condolences to the family of Haley Rose Gans.
