Utah conglomerate takes Colorado mountain off Intrawest's hands
After Colorado tried and failed to get a foothold in Utah, looks like Utah tried to get a foothold in Colorado -- and succeeded. Colorado's Vail Resorts attempted purchase of The Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah, a few months back was a bust. But Powdr Corp, based in Park City and owners of Park City Mountain Resort, announced Tuesday that they have bought Colorado's Copper Mountain; Powdr expects to close the deal with the resort's current owner, Intrawest, next month. Don't worry: All season passes, vacation reservations and "joint marketing initiatives" will be honored -- which means those of you with Rocky Mountain Super Pass can still use them at Copper and Winter Park.

Now, if a PCMR season ticket was good at Copper, *that* would be something.
