GORE-TEX launches online social networking community

For outdoor enthusiasts:

W.L. Gore & Associates (Gore) and the GORE-TEX brand launched an online community on Thursday providing a forum for people to communicate and share their outdoor experiences via photos, videos and message boards.

To power a huge launch for their new MyExperienceMore.com community, the GORE-TEX brand has organized an online contest where community members have the chance to win $10,000 toward planning the outdoor experience of their dreams.

The “Experience More Challenge” is based on photos that members submit of themselves “experiencing more” outdoors. Submissions must be uploaded by Jan. 13, 2010. To win, submissions must survive a first round of members rating other members’ photos. Entries that receive a certain average rating will be advanced to a panel of Gore representatives, who will choose six finalists. The lucky six will be thrown back to the wolves and will be reevaluated by the online community, who will vote for the winner of the “Experience More Challenge.” Luckily for the six, they’ll receive cool GORE-TEX gear while they wait until February for a winner.

In addition to the grand prize money of $10,000, the GORE-TEX brand will donate $5,000 to one of 10 participating outdoor non-profits, to be selected by the “Experience More Challenge” winner.

 

MyExperienceMore.com “is geared towards outdoor enthusiasts of all levels and activities,” said Bill Foster, GORE-TEX marketing director.

Site members will benefit from special promotions and offers from Gore’s partner brands and retailers and highlight upcoming events across the country and fundraisers for related non-profit organizations.
