Klaus Obermeyer Is 90
Klaus Obermeyer Is 90
Today, folks, is ski legend Klaus Obermeyer's 90th birthday. Ninety years, people—and the dude's still hitting the hills. (He's probably out there right now: It's snowing in Aspen as we write this.) We've got Klaus to thanks for a lot of our sport's most useful innovations, the quilted down parka being the first and most famous, but also high-altitude sunscreen, mirrored sunglasses and some of the first waterproof/breathable fabrics. Here is a man who made skiing comfortable, and still does. But more than that, Klaus has always been a voice and an ambassador for our sport—and one hell of a poster boy for it, often thanks to his buddy Warren Miller. We should all be so lucky. If you're out on the slopes this weekend—or any time at all this season—raise a pole for Klaus. Here's to another decade, dear friend.

OMG Happy Birthday Klaus..... heres to many more birthdays and great days of skiing. I only hope to see you when I'm in Aspen this January to wish you happy belated birthday myself........ Keep it going kiddo!!
