Rare massive snowstorms hit the United Kingdom; locals make do by building igloos

As our friends in the United Kingdom can attest—the normally fluff-free isle has seen a series of snow-heavy storms in recent weeks—it's been a weird winter. Over a foot of snow fell in some places, some 80 flights were cancelled out of Heathrow, and drivers across the country were abandoning their stuck vehicles along snowy roadsides. But that didn't stop a few Britons from having fun with this stuff, as this slideshow at the Huffington Post proves. Some friends in Birmingham built up a rather professional-looking igloo by using a small rubbish pail to form blocks of snow. HuffPo also offers up timelapse YouTube footage of a Yorkshire family building their igloo. Now our across-the-pond friends have learned what we more snowbound folks have known for years: When the big storms hit (and you're not on the ski hill), family fun should be the only item on anyone's agenda.
