Frozen: The World's First Ski-Horror Flick?

Frozen movie
You may know it as "that scary chairlift movie." Three kids get stuck on a chairlift -- and then the wolves come out.

We're no film critics -- we are mere ski bums moonlighting at a ski magazine -- but lately we've been hearing the snarky complaint that Hollywood has run out of ideas. Thus, the complainers say, the parade of remake after remake. (Clash of the Titans 2010, anyone?) So we were pretty psyched to hear about a new ski film due out next month -- a new ski horror film. For us, "horror" on the slopes means too many newbies choking through a powder day, but Frozen, opening February 5, promises to "do for skiing what Jaws did for swimming," according to one perhaps overenthusiastic reviewer. The plot, as far as we can tell: A few cute twenty-somethings get stuck overnight on a chairlift, almost freeze to death... and then wolves attack. Don't say we didn't warn you.

The simplicity is appealing, but the uphill battle that these types of films must fight is preventing the plot and the characters from becoming stagnant. There's only so much story to go around, and the bulk of the movie must be supported by the audience's interest in the people and their predicament. In Frozen's case, neither engages viewers fully all the way through.

You are so right about this. Hollywood is definitely running out of ideas. There are to many remakes that make me crazy. Lets come up with some new ideas.

I could relate to the characters in Frozen since it is a pretty accurate assessment. Skiing wasn’t exactly a pleasurable activity for me to begin with. My one experience with the sport was brief and embarrassing and involved falling down a lot and crying a little before finally retreating to the lodge to drink until it was time to go home. I made it onto the chairlift, but it was a dubious looking contraption that should have screamed “death trap” to any reasonable person.

What ?? Do you mean that this low budget ski movie is more fun to watch than the up coming mega budget hollywood movie Clash of the titans . Wow , according to your reviews I think it's worth a watch but I think this movie has no chance of taking over the titans.
