Big-mountain skiers Mike Douglas and Cody Townsend trade mountains for waves—but keep the skis

Telemarking, alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, freeriding, big mountain skiing, snowboarding: The snowsports world is always changing -- and, thankfully, getting bigger. But we're wondering about some of its more recent turns. First, we told you about the "skoochers," a revolutionary bunch of boarders who are pioneering the sport of cross-country snowboarding. Alright, so those guys were joking. But the Utah dudes we told you about who built their own snow surfboards weren't joking. And neither, apparently, are these guys. Pro skiers Mike Douglas and Cody Townsend spent a year testing and prepping to make their big ski dream come true: skiing the waves off Maui. As Douglas tells the camera at the beginning of the resulting ski, er, surf, er, sports video, "Now it's getting weird."
