Lindsey Vonn on the Road to Recovery

Lindsey Vonn appears to be on the mend today, after divulging a potentially medal-threatening injury to her shin to the Today Show yesterday morning. On Wednesday, America's big hope for Olympic ski gold told Matt Lauer she had bruised her shin, calling the injury "excruciatingly painful" and reporting that the "muscle is bleeding." But by Thursday morning Vonn was out on the mountain and inspecting the course -- on skis. "When we got here at first she skied carefully but then she decided she was going to test her shin for real," Thomas Vonn, Lindsey's husband and coach, told the New York Times. "She took a free run but it was pretty fast and she was pressuring the boot and making real turns. I followed after her down the trail and she looked solid. At the bottom, she was in pain but smiling. It wasn’t a run at full race speed by any means but it was a solid step.” Training runs for Olympic super combined contenders were postponed until tomorrow due to snow and bad weather. More snow and a healing Vonn? We'll take both those bits of news as good ones.
