Bode’s Helmet Is Up for Grabs

Olympic medalist, Bode Miller, uses his head to help a friend.

With big endorsement money in play for athletes who bring home Olympic medals, there’s always a debate on how much a gold is actually worth. ABC News tackles this very question in a recent article about Winter Olympians' earning potential. We’ll see later how much Bode Miller’s three medals will bring him in endorsement dollars (ABC predicts that his prospects are poor), but right now his autographed 2010 Olympic slalom helmet is valued at precisely $2,025. Miller has put his helmet up for auction to benefit his friend Pam Warman, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Warman is a former U.S. Ski Team World Cup ski technician—and is said to be the first female techie to reach the World Cup ranks. Expect to see other athletes donating gear for auction to help with her medical expenses. Sierra-at-Tahoe also plans to hold a fundraiser fun race with several USST members on April 13 for Warman, a Tahoe resident. To bid on the helmet, click here.
