Loveland Ski Area and Echo Mountain in Colorado and Lake Louise in Alberta celebrate the end of the season this weekend.

This weekend promises parties galore as we bid farewell to local haunts Loveland Ski Area and Echo Mountain in the Front Range hills.

Loveland, who received eight inches of fresh powder last night, is likely to get new snow over the weekend as well. The mountain has events planned for both days: Tall T's n' Tacos Terrain Park Competition with Wahoo’s Fish Tacos on Saturday (see video below) and beer specials and live music on Sunday. Any person who holds a season pass from another resort can buy a Loveland lift ticket for just $30.

You’ll find the ubiquitous pond-skimming competition at the Last Day Meltdown at Echo Mountain on Sunday. Registration is free for a chance to win $250.

A-Basin isn’t closing yet, but the mountain also has some excitement in store this weekend with its amateur slopestyle competition on Saturday, May 1: the 7th Annual Huck, Rock n’ Roll. Registration costs $10. The ski area is slated to close June 6.

Further North in the Canadian Rockies, Lake Louise is also planning its season finale: The VW Spring Episode, featuring live music and slopestyle competitions all weekend long.
