Sunsation, Copper Mountain’s annual spring breakdown, begins this weekend

Nothing says springtime in the Rockies like sun, snow and reggae. Get your fill of all three this weekend at Sunsation—Copper Mountain’s 10th annual spring festival. Send off the ski season with free live music, a freestyle competition and mid-season snow conditions.

The action begins this Saturday, April 10, with the Alt Games College Snowboarding and Freeskiing Open Championships in Copper's Catalyst Terrain Park. At day's end, rock bands Rey Fresco and Pepper will perform at the base of the American Eagle lift in Burning Stones Plaza.

Steel Pulse, a reggae band from the UK, is set to play next weekend on April 17. Steel Pulse gained notoriety in the early 80s by mixing bouncy reggae beats with political lyrics. (Check out the video below for their hit song "Taxi Driver"—Al Sharpton makes a cameo appearance.) Other acts scheduled to perform at the festival include Lotus, These United States, Canadian AC/DC cover band BC/DC, Tex-Mex rockers Los Lonely Boys and reggae grammy nominee Pato Banton.

Copper Mountain is offering accommodation packages for both weekends. Click here for details.
