Lessons, a new addition to Colorado Ski Country's Passport program which provides three days of free skiing at each participating CSCUSA member resort, will be given throughout January as part of Learn to Ski and Snowboard month.

Colorado fifth graders now not only can ski for free, but they can take a free lesson, too. Colorado Ski Country announced the new addition to the existing 5th Grade Passport program, which provides the state's fifth graders with three free days of skiing at participating resort, yesterday during its 47th annual meeting. The lessons will be given throughout January as part of Learn to Ski and Snowboard month.

“There are many fifth graders who want to ski or ride, but who haven’t tried our state’s signature sports before and who don’t know how to begin,” CSCUSA President and CEO Melanie Mills said in a statement. “We are doing this so more kids can learn to ski and snowboard here in Colorado and can grow up with the confidence to navigate Colorado’s mountains.”

The Colorado Ski Country USA’s 5th Grade Passport has provided free skiing to kids for the last 14 years and has helped nearly 200,000 kids ski or snowboard. This is the first time the program will also be providing lessons. Applications for 2010-11 5th Grade Passports will be available in the fall of 2010.
