BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. Nov. 9, 2004 - This Friday, Breckenridge joins Copper, Loveland, and Arapahoe Basin in opening for the 2004/05 season. The eagerly anticipated opening of Breckenridge Ski Resort for the 2004-2005 ski and snowboard season takes place this Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 at 8:30 a.m. MST. Come celebrate with a complimentary pancake breakfast and exciting giveaways throughout the day from Krystal 93 and KSMT. Once again this year, all lift ticket proceeds from opening day at Breckenridge will be donated to four local charities.
This season Breckenridge celebrates its 20th Anniversary of Snowboarding. The resort was one of the first to embrace the sport, and to host one of the initial major snowboard competitions in the industry, The World Snowboarding Championships, or "The World's," in 1986. In honor of the anniversary, there will be a ceremonial ribbon cutting before the first chair, and a retro costume contest to showcase styles of the past. Dust off your vintage board and classic 80s fashion to win prizes and admiring glances from friends. Prizes, including an 04-05 season pass and a weekend getaway to Breckenridge, will be awarded for the best outfits.
"The early season snowfall, beginning back in September, is a great indication of what we hope will be an amazing season," said Roger McCarthy, Breckenridge Chief Operating Officer. "We're excited about promoting Breckenridge's four peaks, four parks and four pipes, and of course the 20th Anniversary of Snowboarding. It's a great year to visit Breckenridge"
Breckenridge plans to open for the season with one high-speed quad, the Beaver Run SuperChair, and the Camelbak Platter and carpet. The resort will offer two trails, including a combination of Columbia and Sundown, forming a top-to-bottom experience, and Bonanza. This configuration represents approximately 60 acres of early-season terrain with a 15 to 20 inch snow depth, comprised of both man-made and natural snow.In time for skiers and riders heading up for the weekend, Breckenridge will add the Quicksilver Super6 chairlift and the Silverthorne trail on Saturday, Nov. 13. The TenMile Station* restaurant, located at the top of the Quicksilver Super6 chairlift, will open for the season on Saturday, as well.

Giveaways and live updates from the base of the Beaver Run SuperChair
Once again this season, Breckenridge Ski Resort will donate all opening day lift ticket proceeds to local charities, including Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, Summit County Youth, Mountain Top Children's Museum, and the Summit County Community Care Clinic. In past years, local charities have received more than $5,500 from opening day proceeds. Tickets on opening day are $45 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under.
