New York, NY - For those dreaming of a White Christmas, it doesn't get any more idyllic than a visit to a Canadian Mountain Holidays' lodges, where a record amount of early season snow is blanketing the area.
This year, CMH the world's largest helicopter skiing company introduces its first ever Family Heli- Skiing Christmas trip, for parents and children between the ages of 12 and 17, from December 21 — 28, 2005 at the Cariboos lodge in Western Canada's Cariboo mountain range.
The whole family starts the day off with serious skiing. Parents will ski with their children until the kids get tired. The kids are then helicoptered back to the lodge where a variety of supervised activities is on offer -- including a climbing wall, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, building igloos and snowmen, and doing crafts in the lodge. In the evening, a family dinner will be served with special menu choices for the kids. Adding to the festive atmosphere, there will be Christmas and Hanukkah celebrations, including a tree with real candles, menorah lightings, and presents for everyone in the lodge.
The price for the week is CAN $5,155 (US $4311*) for adults and CAN $2,578 (US $2156*) for children. Adults are guaranteed 100,000 vertical feet of skiing; for children, the guarantee is 50,000 vertical feet, which takes the pressure off kids to stay out all day. Parents with children under age 12 who they consider capable of Heli-Skiing should call CMH to discuss the possibility. Smaller, non-skiing children are welcome at no charge, but parents must provide childcare -- a special non-skiing "nanny" rate is available for CAN $1,050 (US $878*)
DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND, CMH OFFERS SHORTER TRIPS IN 2005/2006
In addition, this season CMH is introducing new, shorter trips to four more of its lodges. In response to popular demand and the success of last year's first ever "Long Weekends of Heli-Skiing" trips to Revelstoke, CMH is expanding the alternatives for those who want to experience Heli-Skiing but reduce their time away from home and/or the cost. Trips for 2005/2006 are as follows:
Some of CMH's most challenging terrain — with steep pitched runs and 60-90% tree skiing, this is for experienced Heli-Skiers.
One of CMH's most diverse areas -- offering an excellent variety of terrain in the Northern Selkirk and Monashee mountains.
This area in the Cariboo Mountains with high, north- facing glaciers, wide endless alpine runs, and good tree skiing has consistently high snowfall.
