Park City, UT, Nov. 17, 2000--Four American skiers qualified for a 2nd GS run Friday at the Chevy Truck America's OpeningWorld Cup at Park City Mountain Resort.

Bode Miller (Franconia, NH) notched the top American finish for the Americans in the first run, placing eighth with a time of1:16.41 on CB's Run. Miller went down on his hip twice during the run, but recovered enough to make the top-10. ErikSchlopy (Park City, UT), coming off a pair of Super Series slalom wins in Colorado last weekend, followed in 10th with a timeof 1:16.48. Also coming back for second runs this afternoon will be Casey Puckett (Aspen, CO), who placed 21st (1:16.85)and Dane Spencer (Boise, ID), in 26th (1:17.11).

Both Miller and Schlopy had start positions in the 30s, while Puckett and Spencer started in the 40s. American Daron Rahlves(Sugar Bowl, CA), primarily a speed skier, just missed the cut, finishing 33rd with a time of 1:17.38.

Italian Patrick Holzer came out of the 25th start spot and sits in first place with a time of 1:15.85 after the opening run.Slovenian Mitja Kunc is second (1:16.19), while Norway's Lasse Kjus is third (1:16.21). Just .09 separates racers two throughfive.

The course was smooth as cold temperatures overnight hardened up new snow that had fallen over the past two days. During the first run, light conditions were constantly changing as cloud cover occasionally gave way to breaks of sun.

The second run is slated for a 1 p.m. MST start.
