Pequegnot, Kostelic, Schleper take Winter Park slalom

WINTER PARK, CO (USST report) - Reigning World Cup slalom champion Laure Pequegnot of France edged Olympic slalom champion Janica Kostelic of Croatia to win a Chevy Truck Super Series slalom at Winter Park Resort with Sarah Schleper (Vail, CO) third.

Pequgnot shrugged off about four inches of snow during the night and was the first-run leader and posted a two-run time of 1:32.72. Kostelic, who won the first Super Series slalom of the season Sunday at Winter Park, was timed in in 1:33.54. Schleper finished in 1:33.77.

Many of the racers left immediately after the race for Park City, UT,where the World Cup moves into the continuous-racing phase Thursday with the Chevy Truck America's Opening races - the second giant slalom of the season for men and women followed by the first slalom of the winter for men and women.
