Park City Opening World Cup: Mens Giant Slalom

PARK CITY, UT (Nov. 22) ? Local hero Erik Schlopy of Park City posted the fastest second run Friday. He jumped into fifth place behind Swiss great Michael Von Gruenigen, who won his third Chevy Truck America's Opening giant slalom - and 21st overall - at sun-bathed Park City Mountain Resort. Dane Spencer (Boise, ID) tied for 22nd and Thomas Vonn (Newburgh, NY) 27th while Bode Miller (Franconia, NH) skied out of his left binding about 15 gates into the first run.

ESPN will televise coverage Sunday at 2 p.m. EST.Friday, November 22, 2002
