The farmers' markets sprouting up in mountain towns promise not only fresh and vegetables, but also a taste of ski-town community. Look for these five from May through October-Mother Nature permitting. Aspen, Colo. Nearly 70 vendors transform the corner of Hopkins and Hunter into a veritable street fair. Specialties: Colorado-produced fruits and vegetables, wine, elk and buffalo meat, plus arts and crafts, music performances, cooking demos and fashion shows. Saturdays, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Burlington, Vt. Lining College Street and spilling into City Hall Park, the market culls 50 vendors from Vermont and New Hampshire. Look for baked goods, maple syrup, organic produce, and sheep's fleece and yarns. Saturdays, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Jackson, Wyo. Straddle the fence around Town Square and munch fruit, chocolates and bread from 35 artisans and farmers from around the state, as well as from neighboring Montana, Utah and Idaho. Don't miss: custom-ordered cuts of Wyoming lamb, which can be shipped home. Saturdays, 8-11:00 a.m.

Park City, Utah A parking lot at The Canyons fills with 50 local vendors, including Ranui Gardens, the only certified organic grower in the area. Goods include pecans, fruits and vegetables, flowers, breads and goat cheeses. Wednesdays, 2-7 p.m.

Taos, N.M. The 20-year-old market takes over the Town Hall parking lot, where locals hawk produce, chile ristras and wreaths, salsas, spices, flowers, and handwoven baskets. Saturdays, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
