Kids Ski Free Programs

Ever since Colorado Ski Resorts kicked of the Fifth Grade Passport four years ago, more and more kids are benefiting from it all over the country. The success of the program, launched by Colorado Ski Country USA, has spawned a host of similar kids-ski-free programs. These days, just about every ski resort offers some way for kids to get on the hill for nothing.

Here are some of the more sweeping programs, and please see also an link to more programs below.

Colorado
Since 1996, the Fifth Grade Passport has been offered to kids enrolled in fifth grade at all schools in Colorado, public or private. The passport provides three days skiing at each of Colorado's 25 ski resorts, as long as kids are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Maine
Maine offers a variation of the Fifth Grade Passport, which is good for three days of free skiing at each of the fifteen Ski Maine ski areas--forty-five days in all. The Passport also provides discounted lift tickets, rentals and lessons for fifth graders and their families.For more information call Ski Maine, at 207-761-3774.

Utah
This is another variation of the Fifth Grade Passport, offered to all fifth graders in the state. Ski Utah, which runs the program, anticipates that 20 percent of the states 35,000 Fifth Graders will participate. For more information call Ski Utah, at 801-534-1779.

Vermont
The "Aiming for Excellence" program offers a free season pass to high school Honor Roll students in grades 10-12. The pass is valid all season at all 5 resort owned by American Skiing Co., in Vermont. For more information, contact the resorts individually:
