Mt. Crested Butte, CO, Feb. 9--The old Victorian mining town that is home to Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) will see Club Med move into the valley this fall. Club Med announced Wednesday that it signed and agreement with Colorado's CBMR to purchase the Crested Butte Marriott Resort.
This marks Club Med's second acquisition of a ski area property in Colorado, after the 1981 development of Club Med Copper Mountain at Copper Mountain Resort.
"Club Med brings its world-class experience in hospitality, travel, and leisure to Crested Butte and will fit well into our family-oriented resort," said Scout Wilson, senior vice president of CBMR.
Club Med plans to close the deal by April and renovations of the old Marriott should be completed by November. Club Med will offer its traditional all-inclusive ski packages including accommodations, lift tickets, meals, nightly entertainment, ski and snowboarding class, and Mini Club Med activities for kids 4 to twelve years old.
"Four months after relaunching Club Med's image in the USA, we're proud to announce our commitment to a new village in Crested Butte," said Philippe Bourguigon, chairman and CEO of Club Mediterranee. "This is only the beginning."
