Mt. Crested Butte, Colo. Dec. 4, 2001 (CBMR)--Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) announced, it will open the Keystone lift this weekend, Dec. 8-9--one week earlier than scheduled--due to the abundant snowfall they have enjoyed the last two weeks. Lift tickets will cost $5 and the proceeds will be donated to the New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund. Season Pass holders may Ski Free, Punch Card holders may use a punch, or donate to the cause. The Keystone Lift which accesses up to nine trails will be the only lift open to the public throughout the benefit weekend. A private race camp operated by the Crested Butte Academy will take place on the T-Bar and will not be open to the public. CBMR has received more than three feet of snow over the past week, making conditions perfect for an early opening. The resort will officially open for the season on Saturday, Dec. 15. Lift tickets will cost $6 and Group Ski School lessons will be offered for $5, (the same price they were in 1961), in honor of Crested Butte's 40th Anniversary. Parties, birthday cakes, après ski specials and ski demos with skiers dressed in 1800's garb will take place all day to celebrate the Butte's 40th Anniversary.
