Deer Valley, UT, Jan. 7, 2002--It happened during previous Olympic Games, and it's happening again: last minute availability of condominiums and private homes near 2002 Olympic Winter Games venues are driving prices down. In fact, savvy last-minute travelers to the Winter Olympics can still find two bedroom condos within walking distance of the giant slalom, slalom, snowboarding, moguls and aerial competitions for as little as $108 per adult per night based on quad occupancy.

Deer Valley Lodging, which exclusively represents over 500 condominiums and private homes, reports over 80 units are still available during the Feb. 8-24 Olympic period. Many of these units are renting for as much as 50 percent off advance reservation rates of a year ago, and with only a 3-night minimum stay requirement.

Deer Valley Lodging's Bobby Foster reports a typical two bedroom Snow Park condominium in lower Deer Valley--a free shuttle bus ride or 5-10 min. walk to the lifts, the Deer Valley Olympic venue, and nightly Olympic celebrations--is available from $430 per night, based upon a three-night minimum stay. It comes with daily housekeeping, a full kitchen, 2-1/2 bathrooms, fireplace, and enough room to sleep 4-6 people. Last year, the same space was listed at $910/night, according to Foster. It's a great value "when you consider smaller hotel rooms 45-min. away in downtown Salt Lake are priced from $179 to $850 per night," said Foster.

Foster reports many guests are coming to the Winter Games without Olympic tickets, and planning instead to attend the free Olympic celebration parties, shop, pin trade, and ski. Only 3% of the ski trails at Park City and Deer Valley will be used for Olympic competition, and the region has been hammered with exceptional early season snowfall. Alta alone received 100 inches of snow in 100 hours in early December. Base depths at Deer Valley Resort are currently 55 inches.

Skiing during the Winter Games is discounted as well; Deer Valley Lodging is joining other resorts in Utah by offering money-saving Winter Celebration certificates valid for $20.02 off daily lift tickets to those who book a minimum three-night stay. Lift ticket celebration vouchers must be ordered at the time lodging is booked.

Olympic Winter Game tickets are also still available through SaltLake2002.
