Director of Skiing, Deer Valley Resort
The Dream Home must have a sauna. My father always told me that to be a great skier, you must take a hot sauna several times a week. It feels so good after a day on the slopes—refreshes the skin, relaxes the muscles, warms the body, soothes the soul. (Seems to have worked for Stein, who was an Olympic gold and silver medalist in 1952 and won three World Championships medals in 1954. He's known as one of the fastest and most stylish skiers in history, as well as for his dashing good looks.)
Mayor of Park City
We're proud that Park City was chosen as the site for the first SKI Dream Home. My job is to continually think about the impact of projects like this. So I'd like to see several employee lodging areas in the home to house the staff that will fill the jobs that this home will create.
Hannah the Coyote Dog
Resident "Park City Purebred
Since it's urban legend that there are more dogs than people in Park City, I find it perfectly legitimate to be polled on this matter. We don't call this town "Bark City for nothing. It's not unfamiliar to see a collection of local pooches waiting patiently for our owners outside Main Street watering holes, and Park City boasts 15 dog-related businesses from groomers to doggie daycare, canine hiking clubs and poop scoop services, even a dog massage parlor. My vote for Dream Home amenities is a built-in dog spa, with a grooming area where my family can hose me down in my own shower to get the snow chunks out of my fur, a drying area so I'm fluffy and warm, and cozy dogs beds.
Deer Valley Director of Marketing
Since the home is ski-in/ski-out at Deer Valley, it has to have ski racks, boot lockers and boot warmers, so you can come in, take your boots off, dry them out, hang up your skis and get comfortable quickly. The home must also have a gourmet kitchen where guests can prepare some of Deer Valley's great take-home food items. And it should have several of our hospitality Bolo passes (a permanent season pass) so that houseguests can simply grab them off the coffee table in the morning and hit the slopes.
Resorts West Real Estate
In terms of the real estate market, the Dream Home already has it all. The location is prime; you simply cannot beat Deer Valley. Any skier's dream home would have to be here. Being nestled in a gated community makes it ultra-desirable, too. And one of the biggest selling features is the home's accessibility. Someone can fly into Salt Lake City from anywhere in the country, be in the Dream Home by noon, and ski for the rest of the day. The lot itself is truly unparalleled, with 360-degree views of lake, mountains, snow and sky, with skiing literally right to the back door, the chairlift in sight. We looked at many, many lots before selecting this one. When I actually stood on the property for the first time, it just felt good—we knew this was where the Dream Home needed to go. The eventual owner of this home will truly feel like he is king of the mountain.
We want a bunk room for all of our friends; our own bathroom; a kids' game room with Nintendo, XBox and a card table; a ski tuning room so Dad can wax our twin-tips and make them even faster; and an always-ready keg of hot chocolate to share with our friends.
Casa Bella Furniture and Design
The Dream Home interiors will take full advantage of the beauty of its location. We'll be using comfortable furniture that you're not afraid to put your feet up on, with features like wide-armed chairs to rest a book or drink on. We'll use lots of jewel and earth tones. House guests will not only be seeing but feeling great textures on furnishings—like fabrics such as cashmere or mohair, which invite you to rub your hands against them. Also, since this houuse will be full of activity—with pool tables, a home theater and such—the bedrooms will be in a cocoon-like environment, so that when you're ready to retreat, you'll find an enveloping, comfortable room to decompress in.
