Georgetown, CO Jan. 6, 2005 - A winter storm that arrived at Loveland Ski Area Tuesday has parked itself over The Continental Divide and continues to produce snow. As of 4:30 p.m. today the ski area has accumulated 18 inches of new snow and announced its plans to open Chair #9 on Friday, January 7th for the 2004-2005 season (weather permitting).

This famed chair lift, the highest in the world, provides skiers and riders access to an additional 400 acres of terrain, known as, The Ridge. Chair #9 awards Loveland Ski Area bragging rights to the highest chair lift served terrain in the world. Reaching a maximum elevation of 12,700 feet, Chair #9 offers stunning 360-degree panoramic views and an expanse of open bowls and steep chutes directly off the eastern side of the Continental Divide. Fridays opening of The Ridge will give skiers and riders an additional 100 acres of terrain to choose from, including the expert terrain of Patrol Bowl and the intermediate cruiser, Rookie Road.

New this season, Loveland Ski Area in conjunction with the PENTAX Imaging Company has added the "Divide Cam." Positioned on top of Chair #9, the "Divide Cam" offers 360-degree panoramic views from the top of the Continental Divide and is made possible with the PENTAX VersaCam IC-360 Internet Camera. Live images from the "Divide Cam are available at www.skiloveland.com.

"PENTAX is honored and excited that our VersaCam IC-360 Internet Camera is positioned atop Loveland Ski Area to bring unprecedented high altitude Internet images to outdoor enthusiasts." said Michelle Martin, Public Relations Coordinator, PENTAX Imaging Company.

"Preliminary research shows this is the highest web cam in the world. Its placement on the highest chair lift in the world will provide unique views of the ski area, the Continental Divide as well as images of skiers and riders enjoying this high alpine playground, explained Loveland Marketing Director, Kevin Wright.

Another winter storm expected to reach the mountains over the next several days has meteorologists predicting what could be a "once-in-a-generation storm. Local forecasts are predicting up to an additional 18 inches of snow by early next week.

For the weekend Loveland Ski Area will have 810 acres of terrain accessed by eight of nine lifts, serving 64 of the mountains 77 trails (weather permitting).
