Killington, Vt. Oct. 24, 2002--For the first time in Killington's history, the resort will open for the season with top-to-bttom skiing. Once again, it will be one of the first areas to open in the East when they fire up the lifts on Friday, Oct. 25.

To kick off the 2002-03 season, Kilington will offer skiing on eight trails which make up three different runs. Top to bottom skiing will be on Great Northern.

"We are far ahead of schedule compared to last year," said Marketing Manager Steve Wright. "The weather conditions couldn't get much better for early season snowmaking."

According to Wright, Killington has been making snow for 100 consecutive days. With temperatures remaining in the 20s for weeks, Kilington has had ideal conditions for making snow.

According to Wright, Killington has an 18 inch base with 2-4 inches of fresh snow in the past 24 hours. The resort is expecting more tonight.

For those who wish to ditch school or work on Friday, tickets for Killington's historic opening day will be $35 for adults and $27 for juniors and seniors.

Wright is expecting several hundred skiers on opening day and considerably more over the weekend.
