10 Notable Indies
Moment

Moment dominates the West Coast indie scene. Casey Hakkanson started out by tinkering with fatter designs that he and his friends liked to ski in the deep snow of Tahoe resorts and at Mt. Rose near the Moment factory in Sparks (near Reno). Moment has since evolved into a top-selling indie brand: Hakkanson says the factory turned out 4,500 pairs last year.

Origin: Sparks, Nev.

Ski Shown: Bibby

MSRP: $699

Tip/Waist/Tail: 143-116-134 (at 184 cm)

The pro model of B.C. slayer Josh Bibby combines float-ready rocker with real-world camber underfoot.
