Best Helmets 2011
Poc Receptor Backcountry

Best For: Adventure seekers and expert skiers

Details: Sure, an endo is scary, but seemingly benign sideways falls can be dangerous, too. This is one of the first snow helmets to address that risk. In a hard- enough lateral crash, a plastic pin that holds the helmet’s liner in place will release, allowing it to counter-rotate in relation to the outer shell, thus absorbing the rotational force of oblique impacts.

Shell/Liner: Double layer in-mold shell with ABS plastic and polycarbonate; aramid and polystyrene liner

Weight: 17 Ounces

Additional Features: Recco avalanche rescue reflector; MIPS technology; full ventilation with penetration resistance

Price/Info: $250; pocsports.com
