The Old Works Course – Anaconda, MT One of our all-time favorites, this Jack Nicklaus design makes regular appearances on Best-Of lists for its layout and value. In fact, the Old Works is one of the most incredible values in all of golf, with walking rounds starting at just $39. The Old Works is known for its history as well; built on the grounds of the former smelting mill, which closed in 1980 after nearly 100 years of mineral processing, it was declared a Superfund site by the EPA, and has many historic relics included in the design. Built between Warm Springs Creek and the Pintler Mountain range, Old Works features prominent water obstacles and hilly terrain reminiscent of a European links-style course, plus the unique addition of black slag bunkers, made from the remnants of slag from the former smelting plant. www.OldWorks.org
