Our mission: Skin and ski Mt. Toll in the Indian Peaks Wilderness while testing a few ski touring setups, airbag packs, altimeters, helmets and spring outerwear. The access road to the trailhead was closed to cars, so we had to pedal a quarter-mile over blacktop and the occasional snowbank to reach our launch site. Lesson learned: pedaling a bicycle in ski boots is tricky.
