Down by the River
Two Rivers Ranch: Exterior
Photo: David Patterson

Location Steamboat, Colo.

Square footage 9,332 total, including a 3,660-square-foot addition

Lot size 37 acres

Architects Robert Hawkins, Jeff Gerber, Steamboat

Interior designer Irene Nelson Interiors

Building materials Recycled timbers, barnwood and Telluride dry-stack stone on the exterior; reclaimed hickory floors, custom reclaimed fir cabinets and granite countertops in the interior

Design strategy The main intent of the addition was to use the original barn as a starting point, utilizing similarities of mass, scale and roof pitch, but using timber-frame construction to distinguish the new square footage.
