Editor's Setup: The Rookie
Amanda Markert

Being the new content kid on the block at SKI, I wanted a setup that would improve my skiing and help me keep up with the hard-chargers at the office. Other than looking hot, my priorities were quality, function, and style. I'm proud to say, I've covered my bases.

First, I'm attracted to trees like bugs are to zapping lights – I can't resist. Once in the trees, I have a tendency to ski through the tightest pines I can find, mostly because it's where I see untracked snow. It's not the smartest move but knowing myself all too well, I had to fork over the cash for sturdy gear – stuff that can take several branches to my limbs and helmet without causing a tear or dent.

Second, I really wanted to crank up the dial this season. Meaning, I want to ski harder, better, faster, stronger (yeah, I just referenced a Kanye West song. Forgive me). So, I made sure my skis, boots, and bindings would set me up for success and encourage me to ski terrain that I'd normally find intimidating. I can tell you this, halfway through the season, my skiing has improved tenfold. The reason: a mix of quality gear and my determination to improve my skills and charge hard.

Some may say my skiing is reckless but like my dad always told me, "If you don't fall, you're not pushing yourself enough." Well dad, this season I'm pushing it to the limit so watch out.
