Manufacturers are offering "hybrids" of in-mold and hard-shell, blending the materials into new technologies that offer higher-impact resistance and lower weight. Fit systems tighten all around the head, instead of just from the bottom, and venting is better than ever. Systems are integrated with goggles for improved fit, which reduces fogging. And many brands offer headphones, wired or wireless, for a reasonable price. The MIPS system is being offered in several new brands this year, and looks to become the new standard in head protection.
